At the beginning of the month I was lucky enough to have a little trip the South of France which is by far one of the most amazing places I have ever been! I promise a travel guide is on its way soon! French Pharmacies have always been hailed as a cut above the rest and upon personal inspection I whole heartily agree! Nice also had a branch of the mothership of beauty also known as Sephora so it is only natural that I picked up a few bits there too! Without further ado here is what I got and what I thought of them.
I am well aware that this is no secret in the beauty world but as it is so hard to find outside of France this is the first time I was able to try it. This is without a doubt the best cleansing water I have EVER used! The first time I used this I fell into bed at 2 O’ Clock in the morning and was more than a bit tipsy. Even though I woke up the next morning with a raging hangover my skin was in perfect condition without a trace of makeup left on my face! Sheer magic! Unfortunately for me I was flying Ryanair and so could only purchase the little travel size bottle which I am gutted about. They were selling the two large bottles for something crazy like €17.50 but alas this is a purchase for another day.
Klorane Shampoo and Condition with Mango Butter
Another downside to travelling with only hand luggage meant that I could not bring my usual shampoo and conditioner with me. I was surprised as to how difficult it was to find normal shampoo in a French Pharmacy. I also did not want to pay a lot of money to get a big bottle because I would only leave it behind and it seemed like a waste. I was beginning to think I would have to bite the bullet and do it until I found these little beauties in the third pharmacy I tried. This stuff is unbelievably nourishing and left my hair the softest it has been in awhile! It also really worked with the natural kink in my hair giving me a beachy wave for the duration of my holiday. I am going to be searching for stuff with mango butter in it far more often now!
I am a self confessed Sephora addict. The girls in the Santa Barbara branch knew me very well when I lived their last summer! I used to show up every Friday after I got paid at work! Naturally I was overjoyed to stumble across one in Nice and of course made a few cheeky purchases while I was there.
Human+Kind Body Oil
Human+kind is an all natural skincare company that had a huge display just inside the door of Sephora. I was immediately drawn to the funky packaging and loved how everything about the products were natural. They also have really good price points. I decided to try the body oil because it has been on my list of things to try for some time now. I have most certainly been converted. Body oil nourishes your skin in a way that moisturizer just cannot compete it. I have also discovered the human+kind website and will be trying more things from them soon! It is a must for people who like natural beauty products but not the high price tag that often goes with them.
Herborist Day Cream
And the prize for cutest packaging goes to my new day cream! The most glamorous sales assistant in Sephora picked this out for me. She did not have much English but she still managed to tell me that I was young, beautiful and that I did not need to worry about maintaining wrinkles yet! I would have bought anything from her after dishing out such a compliment! At €30 a pot this stuff isn’t cheap but it is the nicest day cream that I have ever had. I use slightly more than I should because the gel like consistency is something that I find really soothing on my face first thing in the morning. Judging by the writing on the pot I think this is a Japanese or Chinese brand which is something I have never tried before! Well worth having a little test of it the next time you find yourself in Sephora I think!
Beauty is a topic that I have been wanting to add to my blog for sometime now and this felt like a great first post to launch this new section. What do you guys think, would you like to see more beauty posts from me?
